Plaintiff appeals from a judgment entered in the District Court, Flathead County, favoring defendant Beatrict Foods Co. in a products liability case. Plaintiff Philip Stenbergs left arm was amputated - Page 125 below the elbow when his arm slipped into the intake end of a grain auger (a mechanical, screw-type grain elevator) manufactured by the defendant Beatrice Foods Co. The action was tried on two theories: (1) that defendant was negligent in not designing a shield for the intake end of the grain auger, and (2) that defendant was liable under the doctrine of strict liability in tort for its failure to place a shield on the intake end of the grain auger.
